The Ergonomic Assist Systems and Equipment Council (EASE) of Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) announces a workshop in conjunction with Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) Best Practices in Ergonomics Applied to Retail & Distribution conference.
The half day workshop is on day two of the conference. The workshop will focus on developing engineering solutions for manual material handling (MMH) jobs in retail and distribution. There will be open discussion between participants and various solution providers to identify current safety, health and commercial issues in the retail and distribution environment to determine best-in-class ergonomic solutions for loss prevention, increased employee safety while enhancing facility efficiencies and productivity.
Who Should Attend:
~~Industry/safety/loss prevention representatives from the retail industry seeking better ways to safely move materials and containers in their facilities. ~~Manufacturers of MMH equipment who desire to partner with one or more retail industries to explore and develop the next generation of MMH equipment solutions. ~~Practitioners/researchers who seek to partner with businesses in implementing and evaluating MMH engineering solutions.
Format: This is a hands-on workshop focusing on two common manual material handling problems with research data provided by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). There will be open roundtable discussions between participants and various solution providers with the intent to solve the problems through design.
