The Integrated Systems & Controls Council (ISC) of Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) recently released a series of Automation Reports examining end users opinions of automation in manufacturing, distribution and warehousing.
According to this research, 52% believe that automation is for companies of any size, and 78% agree that automation can be retrofitted into an existing facility. However, the research also identified that some myths regarding automation still persist with 56% still believing that automated systems are hard to support and maintain and only 56% thinking automation is safe.
The next step for ISC is to address these myths by communicating the benefits of automation in manufacturing and distribution facilities. ISC cites many reasons including green packaging and increased efficiency for end users to automate going forward.
ISC is seeing interest in automation from customers of all sizes, across all industries and with a wide set of problems. According to their research, 76% of facilities with automation plan to add more automation in the next 18 months.
