Sant'Antonino. The Interroll Group, a global player in the fields of conveyor technology, logistics and automation, has received a new order from PepsiCo to supply dynamic storage technology for at least 8,110 pallet positions in a new local distribution centre for snack food in Azov, Southern Russia.
To support its growing business in Russia, PepsiCo has placed a repeat order for Interroll dynamic storage technology to be installed in a new local distribution centre. The new DC in Azov, southern Russia, distributes snack food such as potato chips from Frito-Lay, one of PepsiCo's major leading brands. The new project is a dynamic storage installation for at least 8,110 pallets stored first in, first out in energy-saving gravity lanes. The pallet flow storage installation will start operating by the end of 2012.
PepsiCo, a world leader in convenient snacks, foods and beverages, was seeking a space and energy saving solution supplied by a company that would meet its objectives in the areas of cost, quality, service and innovation. "Based on the capabilities demonstrated in previous projects we decided to partner again with Interroll for our new DC in Azov", said Patrice E. Ernandez, Engineering Senior Project Manager PepsiCo Russia. "We trust that Interroll will help see this new project through to success, from early-stage consulting to a cost-effective solution running like clock-work."Great result for Kashira snack plant
An earlier project was the expansion of the storage capacity of PepsiCo's distribution centre near Moscow in 2009. The facility in Kashira was expanded to a total of at least 14,000 pallet positions in FIFO (first in, first out) lanes to grow the company's ambitious snack and agricultural business in Russia. In addition to maximizing storage capacity, a key feature was the reduction of the number of forklift trucks by conveyor lines, which helped the company save around half a million Euros. The Kashira solution, with the racking supplied by STOW International, enabled "PepsiCo to achieve a return on its investment after just two years, a great result", Nick Wilkinson commented.Outstanding quality, long-term
In Warsaw, Poland, PepsiCo built a DC in 1999 with a capacity of about 6,000 pallet positions. "Superior quality of the pallet flow modules" was essential for the plant's 24/7 operation throughout the whole year, said Nick Wilkinson, Group Purchasing Manager, PepsiCo International. Due to the outstanding quality, about 250 module units could be reinstalled in the new distribution centre built in 2009.Space and energy saving modules for high-density storage of all pallet types
Compact, space-saving, first-in first-out pallet storage can save up to 50% on the space required by a static system. By reducing fork lift truck traffic and using gravity to move the pallets in the lanes, Interroll pallet flow storage systems also save a considerable amount of energy. The Interroll flow storage modules are compatible with all worldwide used racking systems and can also be used at high throughput volumes for pallets of different sizes and weights, e.g. Euro-pallets, CHEP-pallets, plastic pallets, or metal containers. In addition, Interroll dynamic storage modules are designed to help increase and optimize storage capacity, reduce building, material and maintenance costs, guarantee FIFO product freshness, and accelerate turnover of stock, production & dispatch cycles. As high-quality products they also contribute to reduced spares stock-holding.Specifications and Advantages
