GREENE, N.Y. — On September 11, 2012, The Raymond Corporation contributed to an expert panel at the event Ticket to Ride: A Regional Roadmap to Hydrogen Infrastructure and Fuel Cells, which was held at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany, N.Y. The event addressed opportunities and challenges in the Northeast for implementing fuel cells in automotive and forklift applications.
Featured in the discussion titled “Stationary and Fork Lift Applications – Market Identification,” Raymond addressed which markets and customers would best benefit from implementing fuel cells in their operations and lift truck fleets. Also during this presentation, a Raymond representative discussed the various ways in which return on investment has been calculated in new facilities that have implemented fuel cells.
“Typically, fuel cells and the required hydrogen fueling infrastructure can be justified in lift truck fleets of approximately 40 or more trucks with a two-shift operation,” says Craig Curtis, product manager for counterbalanced lift trucks for The Raymond Corporation. “For many customers that have implemented fuel cells, the fastest ROI has been seen in greenfield sites.”
Topics relating to infrastructure, economics, planning and strategy of hydrogen and fuel cell systems also were discussed at the event. Ticket to Ride was part of a two-day conference on clean energy technology named “Powering our Future: Batteries and Fuel Cells.”
