Carter Control Systems, CCS, Research and Development Electrical Engineers are accomplished Electrical Design engineers interested in new product development of equipment, controls, components and Material Handling system solutions. Cross functionally they team from conception to implementation. This is not an entry level position, practical experience gained working as a Electrical Design Engineer or Controls Engineer with prior material handling or transferable R&D EE experience is required. Candidates must have full project life-cycle experience and a history of successful product or system development transferable to building material handling solutions.  In addition to being a positive team player, our ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver who finds pragmatic solutions to highly technical challenges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design functional electrical systems through development and testing 
R&D components for electrical equipment and components

R&D System designs for Material Handling projects including conveyors, robotic cells and sortation systems 

Devise testing methods and properties to confirm the functionality of electrical components and systems
Research and test manufacturing and assembly processes; develop innovative material handling systems
Conduct collect and analyze data to create reports about ongoing projects
Communicate engineering information across teams and departments to facilitate successful completion of large-scale projects
Expand professional and technical knowledge of leading-edge developments in electrical engineering through participation in professional organizations, networking events, and educational workshops

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or 8+ years of Electrical Design Engineering related experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design engineering of material handling systems, industrial controls systems or related fields that provide transferable knowledge
Experience with instrumentation, sensors, drives/motor control and the related power distribution
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD or other computer-aided design software applications
Knowledge of controls engineering theories and principles.
Ability to write clearly about highly technical subject matter
Capacity to analyze a problem and then implement creative solutions
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated interpersonal skills with high emotional IQ
High attention to detail with a desire for excellence

R&D Background in product development and or material handling system solution development
