R&D PLC Engineer and Controls Engineer

Position Specifics
Carter Control Systems, CCS, Research and Development, PLC Engineer / Controls Engineer accomplished engineers interested in new product development including developing concepts, engineering and designing for manufacturing.  This is not an entry level position, practical experience gained working as a PLC Engineer / Controls engineer is required. Candidates must be able to initiate new PLC programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
R&D PLC Engineers/Controls Engineer research, design, test, implement and maintain PLC software systems to meet new product R&D needs. They use a variety of computer programming languages and applications, working on cross functional teams or alone. This PLC Controls position will travel up to 30%
Research, design, test and prototype new PLC Controlled material handling products
Evaluate, test, and document software developed for projects and standard products.
Assist in the brainstorming and development of software used to control products.
Develop training on how to maintain and use installed hardware, products, and software.
Develop conveyor, and graphic software for projects. Prefer understanding of IEC 61131-3 programming languages: Function Block, Ladder Logic, Sequential Flow Charts, and Structured Text.
Use various types of PLC’s including Allen Bradley, Modicon, Mitsubishi, Automation Direct, Yaskawa. Allen Bradley is 85% of the PLC's programmed by CCS.
Create training materials used to maintain and install hardware, products, and software.
Candidates may also be exposed to programming robots, candidates interested in robotics will be sent for training if they do not already have experience.


BSEE or higher
Prior experience with Keyence, Rockwell, and Allen Bradley PLC s or RS Logix programming & Fanuc Robots
3+ years of Controls Engineering experience
Proficiency with AutoCAD

Prior experience in the pulp & paper industry
Background in product development
Prior experience with Phoenix Controllers
AutoCAD Electrical
