31) Magnetic belt conveyor

A steel belt and either a magnetic slider bed or magnetic pulley is used to transport ferrous materials vertically, upside down, and around corners.

32) Line shaft driven roller conveyor

This form of powered conveyor consists of a rotating line shaft located under and perpendicular to the load carrying conveyor rolls. The line shaft runs parallel to the length of the conveyor. Belts or circular rubber bands connect the motor driven line shaft to the conveyor rollers thereby powering the conveyor.

33) Belt driven live roller conveyor

A form of powered roller conveyor which is distinguished by a drive motor connected to a wide, flat belt which contacts the underside of the roller surface causing the rollers to rotate and move the load. The load is place directly on the belt which is supported by the rollers.

34) Conveyor & Sortation Systems (CSS) Industry Group

The Conveyor & Sortation Systems (CSS) members are the Industry’s leading providers of conveyors and sortation systems. They design, fabricate and install conveyor and sortation systems worldwide and in virtually every major manufacturing and distribution sector. CSS prepares and distributes educational and promotional materials regarding the proper application and benefits of conveyor and sortation system solutions.

35) Fluid load

The direct loading of a trailer from a conveyor line.

36) Pop-up rollers

Rollers which rise up between chain or roller conveyors to move the item off the conveyor to the desired location.

37) Rake puller

A device in which tines pop up between conveyor rollers and pull the item accross the conveyor to the desired location.

38) Line shaft diverter

Roller diverters used in line shaft conveyor to sort and redirect materials along a powered conveyor line.

39) Flow

Materials traveling on gravity or powered conveyor or without manual assistance.

40) Motor driven pusher

An electric motor driven conveyor sortation device.  See Pneumatic pusher .

41) Pneumatic pusher

An air-powered conveyor sortation device.  This device utilizes a ram and cylinder configuration and its movement is programmed to redirect packages and materials on a conveyor line.

42) Pop-up skewed wheel sorter

An in-line diverter conveyor that has wheels that pop up between the rollers of a powered roller conveyor or between belt conveyor segments and direct sorted items onto a powered take-away line. Fairly high speed sorting, in the range of 120 cases per minute, can be achieved.

43) Poternoster

A type of vertical conveyor that provides for continuous operation of multiple, equally spaced, load-carrying units fixed to chains that move continuously in an endless loop. With such a system the loading and unloading, usually automatic, occurs while the conveyor is running, resulting in greater throughput and an even flow of loads. This type of vertical conveyor is common in Europe

44) Pnuematic puller

An air-powered conveyor sortation device.  This device is used to redirect packages and materials on a conveyor.  Pulling device travels beyond the object to be redirected and retracts, therein pulling the object in the desired direction.

45) Powered wheel diverter

A device on a conveyor sortation system used to move a case/carton/piece off the main line.  The device utilizes wheels(skate) that are powered to raise up form the conveyor bed and divert the objects in the desired direction.
