EnerSys Delivers its 10,000th High Performance NexSys Battery to Estenson Logistics

Monday, October 24, 2016

READING, Pa., October 13, 2016 – EnerSys® (NYSE: ENS), a global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications, recently delivered its 10,000th NexSys® high performance battery to Estenson Logistics, a Mesa, Arizona-based transportation and logistics services provider that operates across 47 states. The 10,000th NexSys® Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) battery is one of nearly 100 NexSys® 12NXS137 battery models that Estenson Logistics will use to power a fleet of Toyota 8 HBW 23 Electric Walkie Pallet Jacks on the company’s tractor trailer trucks and in select warehouse locations.
Reflecting on the milestone, Chad Uplinger, general manager specialty markets at EnerSys said, “We are very pleased to recognize this achievement as it represents our growth in the material handling and transportation industries and our ongoing commitment to providing end-users with the power and convenience of NexSys® TPPL batteries wherever they need it.”
For Estenson Logistics, NexSys® 12NXS137 batteries will be replacing a range of conventional flooded lead acid batteries that require periodic watering and were not particularly well suited to the rigors of the road. In contrast, NexSys® batteries are virtually maintenance-free with no watering requirements. They also feature rugged construction to resist shock and provide vibration resistance. “Along with delivering up to three times the life of other conventional sealed batteries, NexSys® 12NXS137 batteries include a waterproof, dustproof on-board charger that makes them ideal for outdoor and over-the-road delivery applications,” said Uplinger.
In selecting the NexSys® 12NXS137 batteries, Estenson Logistics worked with Toyota Lift Northwest, an EnerSys distributor and material handling equipment supplier serving the Pacific Northwest. Estenson regional manager Brian Harper said, “We chose the NexSys® batteries based on their performance in tough working environments, their flexible, on-demand charging capabilities and the exceptional customer service and support of EnerSys and Toyota Lift Northwest.”
Highly suitable for Class III pallet truck applications, the NexSys® 12NXS137 battery fully recharges in just five hours and is designed for opportunity charging multiple times per day, including during shift breaks and downtime. Resulting benefits include available battery power all day without changing batteries, long battery life and reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
Classified as non-spillable electric storage batteries, NexSys® batteries are constructed with 99 percent pure lead and provide unmatched performance across a wide range of temperatures, also making them ideal for cold storage applications. NexSys® batteries have a shelf life of up to two years at 77°F and typically occupy up to 30 percent less space than the equivalent lead-calcium Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) batteries due to the thin plate design’s high energy density properties.
