Schmalz at the ProMat 2017: A comprehensive display of handling technology

Friday, March 31, 2017

Specialists in the fields of distribution, material flow and information flow will meet in Chicago for the ProMat 2017, which will take place April 3-6. Schmalz Inc. will use the trade show as a platform to present to the public its comprehensive range of efficient vacuum handling solutions for a multitude of intra-logistics applications.
Among the products Schmalz will be presenting in booth S1627 is the JumboErgo 85 vacuum tube lifter with SAOB-type bellows suction cups. These suction cups conform perfectly to many different geometries and can withstand high lateral forces. The operator of the tube lifter can move items (such as cardboard boxes) up to 35 kilograms in weight ergonomically and at a high cycle frequency. Schmalz also has the perfect lifting solution for loads up to 50 kilograms: the JumboErgo 85.
Steady growth in the logistics sector and ever-shortening cycles are raising the demand for efficient, automated handling technology. Schmalz will also show the FXP vacuum area gripping system in Chicago. It works flexibly and reliably. A single gripper allows handling of workpieces of a variety of geometries. The vacuum is generated energy-efficiently and directly in the gripper. The FXP is light and thus ideally suited for attachment to a robot. Users can choose among a wide variety of valve types and sizes in order to gently transport even porous and smooth-surfaced workpieces.
The SPZ-M layer gripping system with mechanical gripping support excels at quickly palletizing and de-palletizing whole product layers. It can be used on pallets, cardboard boxes, crates and foil packaging. For securely gripping differing workpiece contours, Schmalz offers a special foam suction surface as well as single suction cups that conform perfectly to the surface. This increases the operator’s handling reliability and reduces the cycle time.
Schmalz will round out its appearance at the trade fair with specialty grippers such as needle grippers, magnetic grippers that include the new magnetic gripper with high holding force for use in high-temperature applications as well as composite grippers. Vacuum components such as vacuum grippers, vacuum generators, and components for control and monitoring, especially for packaging can also be found at the booth. Operators can choose among them to assemble the ideal automation solutions to suit their requirements.
