This award honors company leaders whose outstanding contributions offer a roadmap for others looking to leverage supply chain for competitive advantage. “Many of today’s supply chain pros are more than just leaders within their space; they’re innovators, decision makers, pioneers of change and growth. They’ve spent the last year (and more) creating safer, more efficient supply chains,” said Marina Mayer, editor-in-chief of Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “These winners continue to go above and beyond to overcome challenges, advance supply chain management and make the impossible, possible.” As the CEO of OTTO Motors, Rendall has pushed the company’s vision forward, enabling manufacturers worldwide to create safer, more productive workplaces with autonomous material handling. This was accomplished in 2023 through new product and software launches, and expansions into new markets. In October, OTTO Motors was acquired by Fortune 500 company and leader in industrial automation, Rockwell Automation. As part of Rockwell, OTTO Motors will help customers unlock the full potential of their facilities with an end-to-end autonomous production logistics solution. “Fifteen years ago, OTTO Motors was founded by four university friends building robots in a basement. We started with $200, a passion for mobile robotics, and an unwillingness to accept ‘no’ as an answer. Last year, after fifteen years of changing the way the manufacturing industry moves material, we joined the Rockwell Automation family where we will hold a meaningful role in shaping the future of the supply chain,” said Matt Rendall, CEO and Co-Founder of OTTO Motors. “I am incredibly honored to be recognized as this year’s overall winner for the Pros to Know Lifetime Achievement award. Kitchener, ON — February 28, 2024 — OTTO Motors by Rockwell Automation (NYSE: ROK), a leading provider of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), today released its latest software update, version 2.30, designed to optimize floor space and enhance operations in confined manufacturing environments. Manufacturers, especially in brownfield facilities, can optimize floor space by decreasing the area needed for dedicated AMR parking by up to 50%. Brownfield facilities, characterized by narrow aisles and limited space, often impede one-way or two-way AMR traffic flow and may not accommodate parking and charging infrastructure for larger fleets. With features such as parking space optimization, OTTO AMRs can now park at locations other than their designated parking spaces, reducing travel time and improving floor space utilization. “Brownfield facilities are highly space-constrained, and it’s been a priority for OTTO Motors to help manufacturers deploy and scale AMRs in these confined spaces,” said Jay Judkowitz, vice president, product, OTTO Motors. “Last year, we introduced two new AMRs—OTTO 600 and OTTO 1200—which are some of the smallest in their payload classes. Simultaneously, our previous software release introduced a new feature that improves throughput in narrow aisles by allowing customers to create traffic zones—such as exclusion, speed limit, and single robot zones—for specific robot types. In our newest software update, we’ve introduced a combination of features that empower customers to deploy and scale AMRs effectively in the tightest and most dynamic environments.” The latest software release also delivers: • Easier commissioning: An updated commissioning UI enables faster and more precise map editing, improving accuracy especially at scale. Users can now easily replicate configurations and make changes to multiple endpoints——such as chargers and pallets—at once, reducing time needed for commissioning. • Fortified security: A new user authentication functionality enables single sign-on for enhanced security and customer convenience. Additionally, all traffic accessing the OTTO App is now encrypted via HTTPS, bolstering system security. • Expanded support for VDA5050: As one of the first AMR vendors to support the VDA5050 interoperability standard, OTTO Motors has further expanded its capabilities, now allowing third-party controllers to perform tasks like activating lift attachments, downloading or deleting a map, and triggering robot snapshots. Learn more about the above features in the blog. OTTO Motors leads the AMR industry with continuous software innovations that unlock new applications and revolutionize the way industries move material. Consistent software releases enable AMRs to move faster, safer, and more efficiently, resulting in higher ROI for customers. The OTTO AMR software suite is proven in the industry with over five million hours of production driving experience and is trusted for large-scale deployments by the most reputed brands like Toyota and GE. The latest software release will be showcased in booth #B9419 at MODEX from March 11-14 in Atlanta, USA. About Rockwell Automation Rockwell Automation, Inc.
