Providing enhanced support for high-volume fulfillment operations with seasonal demand and rapid inventory turnoverATLANTA (March 13, 2025) – FORTNA, a leading automation and software company for the full logistics value chain, today announced it is expanding its long-standing partnership with AutoStore to more closely collaborate on providing high-throughput, high-density goods-to-person (GTP) solutions to meet the needs of e-commerce and omnichannel fulfillment operations. Defined as an AutoStore system that delivers 10,000 lines per hour and/or deploys over 400 robots, these high-throughput systems provide scale and versatility particularly well-suited for operations with high-turn, highly seasonal inventory, such as fashion, apparel, sporting goods and similar e-commerce and omnichannel retail fulfillment sites.FORTNA’s innovative approach to solving customers’ challenges combines deep operational understanding, foundational customer data analysis, and the application of advanced automation technologies to continue to increase performance for customers. Through that lens, FORTNA has closely partnered with AutoStore to apply its industry-leading, robotic high-density grid storage technology to increase throughput measured in units per hour while bringing down the cost of e-commerce and omnichannel fulfillment. Through the combination of technology, operating knowledge and a focus on customer business cases, FORTNA is able to drive a return on total invested capital.“At FORTNA, we love to explore the art of the possible. Our close collaboration with AutoStore has opened up new solution spaces to meet some of the most challenging operating conditions. The combination of high-density storage with high-throughput requirements has unlocked new value for our customers,” says Rob McKeel, CEO, FORTNA. “These high-throughput solutions take our partnership to another level, capable of changing the way high-volume fulfillment operations can function and unlocking major performance and efficiency advantages. We look forward to continuing our work with AutoStore as the premier partner to bring these systems to market.”FORTNA has extensive experience designing and implementing high-throughput AutoStore systems for multiple customers. Leveraging its deep expertise in high-volume order fulfillment, FORTNA has successfully designed and deployed solutions that maximize throughput while optimizing space and efficiency. Traditionally, fulfillment centers of this scale relied on large, aisle-based AS/RS systems and complex, multi-step batch picking workflows to meet performance demands. FORTNA’s high-throughput approach transforms this model by enabling direct, order-level picking from the AutoStore grid, significantly increasing efficiency while maintaining the system’s extreme storage density and compact footprint.“AutoStore is all about efficiency and high-throughput. Our proven solutions handle order peaks seamlessly, ensuring top-level performance for nearly 1,200 customers. Leveraging cutting-edge technology and the expertise of partners, we help businesses stay ahead in the fast-paced e-commerce world. From density to performance, we’ve moved beyond space optimization to set new standards in speed and throughput − like one of the FORTNA sites where 2,200 robots deliver 40,000 pick presentations per hour in an approximately 15,000 square meterfootprint − redefining automation benchmarks,” said Mats Hovland Vikse, Chief Executive Officer of AutoStore. The capabilities of high-throughput systems are particularly well-suited to businesses with frequent changes and promotions throughout the year, such as promotional campaigns, seasonal releases, or the introduction of new styles and limited releases. The high storage density and simplified fulfillment workflows equip operations to keep up with large, high-turn inventories while serving a near-constant state of peak demand as new releases and promotions keep order volumes elevated.About FORTNAFORTNA partners with the world’s leading brands to transform omnichannel and parcel distribution operations. This configuration allows the robot to deliver totes to workstations more efficiently than aisle-based AS/RS while reducing the storage footprint. Given the diversity of challenges in warehouses and customer needs, this expands our solution set for narrow aisles, as well as for wide ranges of product sizes and weights.“AS/RS solutions continue to evolve to better serve the changing needs of modern fulfillment centers, and the HaiPick Climb is a great example of this evolution aimed to bring automated operations to life for more and more customers across all industry segments,” stated Ron Egan, Vice President, FORTNA. “This technology supports our approach to providing customer-centric solutions that can accelerate time to market and unlock meaningful efficiency and productivity gains.”"The FORTNA proven leadership in warehouse automation and global presence, combined with our flexible and scalable HaiPick Systems, creates a powerful alliance to help businesses maximize efficiency, optimize space and accelerate their automation journey," said Hunter Senn, Director of Sales, Hai Robotics USA.
