Call for Scholarships   Scholarship Process

 

University Students:

The Call for Scholarships for the 2019/2020 academic year will be issued in November 2018.

MHEFI awards scholarships to selected students with a demonstrated commitment to the material handling, logistics and supply chain industry as reflected in:

  • Coursework
  • Internships/Co-ops/Industry Experience including attendance at local and national industry sponsored events
  • Projects, papers and research
  • Understanding of the industry’s value proposition

Targeted programs of study with a focus on material handling, logistics and supply chain include:

  • Industrial Engineering
  • Industrial Distribution
  • Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Business & Management

University Scholarship Eligibility and Criteria

At the time of application, students must have completed at least two years of study. They must also be enrolled or provide proof of plans to enroll as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student. Students from two-year post-secondary schools are eligible if they have completed two years of study and have been accepted as a transfer student. All applicants must have maintained a “B” equivalent grade point average in post-secondary studies.

New Opportunities for Career and Technical Education (CTE) Students:

MHEFI provides financial support to CTE programs to help resolve the workforce shortages that exist in the material handling, logistics and supply chain industry.

Financial support could include, but not limited to, certification programs, experiential grants to attend industry sponsored events, instructional materials, workshops, etc.

Complete the online application at https://MHEFI.fluidreview.com. One application allows students to compete for one of the many available scholarships.

Three (3) letters of recommendation are required as supporting documentation with your application. Letters of recommendation should be from individuals who can confirm and explain that you have a demonstrated commitment to the material handling, logistics and supply chain industry as reflected in:

  • Coursework
  • Internships/Co-op Jobs/Industry Experience including attendance at industry sponsored events both local and national
  • Projects, papers and research
  • Understanding of the material handling, logistics and supply chain industry’s value proposition

Examples of who could write a Letter of Recommendation for you include:

  • Your professor
  • A professor you have assisted with a research project or paper
  • Your boss at work
  • An individual who made it possible to attend an industry event
  • Any person who can confirm that you understand the industry’s value proposition

Letters of Recommendation must be sent to the Foundation directly from the author. Please note . . . We cannot accept Letters of Recommendation directly from the students since the letters cannot be authenticated. The authors should e-mail the recommendations in the form of a Word document, pdf or e-mail to .

Official transcripts of all academic work completed beyond high school is also required as supporting documentation with your application. This includes your current school, prior schools and/or community, technical or junior colleges. Official transcripts must be sent to the Foundation directly from the Registrar’s office or equivalent office at the school. Official transcripts can be sent two ways:

  • Preferred . . . Via e-mail from the school with a secure download link sent to .
  • Via regular postal mail directly from the school to Donna Varner at MHEFI, 8720 Red Oak Blvd., Suite 201, Charlotte, NC 28217.

Please note: International Master's Degree or PhD students do not have to provide international transcripts from their bachelor’s degree if they are currently enrolled in an eligible school and in a target program in the United States and their current US transcripts can be provided.

Students may also upload other supporting documentation to demonstrate their commitment and understanding of the material handling, logistics and supply chain industry such as:

  • Resume
  • Research Paper
  • Project Summary
  • White Paper
  • Other

The online application, three letters of recommendation and all official transcripts must be received in the Foundation offices by January 15, 2019.

Scholarship awards for the 2019/2020 academic term will be announced by April 30, 2019.
