46) Supply Chain Management
Supply Chain Management is the integration and coordinated execution of all the business processes used to plan and execute the flow of material, goods, products and related information between the many sources and points of use throughout the supply chain in order to achieve the best overall, system wide performance in terms of total cost, on-time (just-in-time) delivery and minimum in-process inventories across the network of suppliers, factories and trading partners that comprise the supply chain. See also, Supply Chain, Logistics, Material Handling, and Third Party Logistics. Note that all of referenced terms are highly interrelated and their definitions are frequently intermingled.
Certified Associate in Materials Handling (CAMH) is one of two certifications for the materials handling professional offered by the Materials Handling & Management Society. For more information visit: www.mhia.org/mhms
Professional Certified in Materials Handling (PCMH) is one of two certifications available to the materials handling professional through the Materials Handling and Management Society (MHMS). For more information visit the web site at www.mhia.org/mhms
49) Bulk container
Bulk containers are heavy duty containers designed for bulk storage material handling.
50) Master carton
Utilized as a larger uniform shipping carton for smaller packages or carton, the master carton serves to lessen material handling time and adds protection during shipping to the smaller items.
51) Master pack
A large box that is used to pack a number of smaller boxes or containers. Aids in protecting the smaller cartons or packages and reduces the number of cartons to be handled during the material handling process.
The Reusable Plastic Pallet & Container Association (RPCPA) was created by a group of visionary manufacturers who design, fabricate and apply Reusable Plastic Pallet and Container Solutions on a worldwide scale.
A product section of the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA), RPCPA members make a substantial commitment of time & resources to the long-term health and welfare of the industry.
RPCPA programming is intended to:
Create awareness and recognition of Reusable Plastic Pallet and Container Solutions as environmentally friendly and cost effective platform for material handling and logistics
Develop and deliver important information on proper application and use through publications and educational activities
53) Integrated Systems & Controls (ISC) Industry Group
Integrated Systems & Controls (ISC) members are the Industry’s leading suppliers of integrated material handling and controls systems. They supply systems worldwide and in virtually every major manufacturing and distribution sector.
54) Integrated Systems & Controls
Integrated Systems and Controls (ISC) refers to a product section of the Material Handling Industry of America. An integrated system is a desired state that generally refers to at least one of the three possible characteristics of an installed material handling system. First, although mechanical automation of the material flow properties of a system may be evident, it is the automation of the information flow associated with what is taking place, concurrently with the physical flow, that is the most defining characteristic. Secondly, an integrated system can be characterized by an unbroken, highly coordinated material flow link between successive stages in a manufacturing or warehousing operation where continuous flow is emphasized, and delays, waiting and intermediate storage minimized. Thirdly, an integrated system characteristically interfaces two or more material handling devices in order to form the bridge between work stations or other discrete points of origin and destination within the material flow cycle, with the goal being a high degree of mechanical coordination and the precise timing of movements. The Association of Professional Material Handling Consultants (APMHC) was organized in 1959 by several leaders who saw the need for more reliable, capable and professional services in the material handling consulting field.
APMHC is a professional society composed of individual consultants in the material handling field. It promotes and coordinates the exchange of ideas and information among members; encourages the improvement of analysis, synthesis, installation and training, and assists other groups in promotion material handling generally and the consulting profession specifically.

Controls refer to the control devices (and software) required to operate powered, mechanical material handling equipment. It is the emphasis on control that ultimately leads to an integrated system and brings about the level of coordination in material and information flow that is desired. With automated information handling, the word "controls" embraces specific pieces of hardware, software, a communication network and the human user interfaces used to capture and transmit data and instruction and invoke action. 60) Materials Handling Management Society
The Materials Handling & Management Society (MHMS) is an individual membership organization for the material handling practitioner and the material handling community. Members include individuals who are committed to continuing their professional career development.
