31) Pallet truck
A manually powered fork truck. The operator physically pushes the forks into the opening on the pallet and "jacks" the racheting lift mechanism so as to raise the pallet off the floor. Once lifted, the load can be manually moved from place to place.
32) Straddle truck
An industrial lift truck that is utilized in aisles as narrow as 6 feet and has had the counterbalancing addressed by front end outriggers. These outriggers also serve to prevent the natural forward tipping motion that would be created as a load is lifted
33) Manual hoist
A suspended machinery unit that, by use of manual operation, is used for lifting and lowering of a freely suspended (unguided) load. Generally uses chain (roller or link) as its lifting medium
34) End/side axle load capacity
The maximum amount of single axle laod (in the case of rolling loads) which may be applied to the loading edge of a lift platform (end or side) when the lift is in its raised position.
35) Crane
A machine for lifting and lowering a load, and moving it horizontally. Drives may be manual, power, or a combination of both.
36) Industrial crane
A machine for lifting and lowering a load, and moving it horizontally. Drives may be manual, power, or a combination of both and utilized totally in an industrial environment.
37) Four way pallet
A pallet which, by its construction, allows forks of a lift to enter the pallet from both sides and ends.
38) Counterbalanced truck
An industrial truck that is weighed at the rear of the truck to prevent (counter) any forward tipping of the truck that could occur when lifting a load.
39) End/side edge load capacity
The maximum amount of static load that can be applied to the edge of a platform (end or side) when the lift is in any raised position.
40) Platform ends
The edges of the lift platform that are perpendicular to the scissor legs. The end dimension is considered the platform width.
41) Vertical creep
Extremely slow speed movement of a scissors lift that is the result of normal, internal leakage of fluid control valves.
42) Vertical travel
The difference between the fully raised height of the platform deck and the fully closed height of the platform deck on a scissors lift.
43) Walkie stacker
A power operated device controlled by an operator standing behind it, which lifts, stacks, and transports pallets.
44) Platform truck
Industrial truck with a platform rather than forks for supporting the load: it cannot lift, load or unload.
45) Drum turner
An attachment to a fork truck, lift table or below-the-hook on a hoist that enables that piece of equipment to turn over drums for filling and emptying.
