This standard provides minimum requirements and guidelines for alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) electrification systems for electric overhead, monorail, and gantry traveling cranes. Electrification systems include conductor bars, festoon systems, cable chains, spring driven reels, and motor driven reels.

Industry: Manufacturer of Faucets and Valves Application: A large manufacturer of faucets and valves required their casting machines to be supplied with fresh core sand with a minimum amount of human involvement. These machines were located in a fixed path with 12 defined sand delivery points. Solution: Demag designed an overhead monorail systems with its KBK enclosed track product which could deliver the core sand to the delivery points on each machine. The 130 monorail path incorporated two curves in order to service two rows of machines.

Waste water treatment facilities are extremely demanding on their equipment resulting in a real mess if the equipment is down for an extended period of time. The Demag KBK Internal Busbar track offered the perfect solution. The location of the loading dock made it difficult to unload the two ton pumps from the service trucks. In addition, the available space made it impossible to remove, negotiate and enter the equipment repair room with a fork truck. The Demag KBK overhead monorail extended over the service truck and in conjunction with the 2 speed Demag chain hoist made it easy to position the unit over the load and drive it to one of four repair benches.

Operating only one shift, the batch room fills enough buckets to supply the furnaces for 24 hours. Some buckets go directly to the furnaces, where they automatically discharge their load into the furnaces. Others are stored on the six full-bucket storage lines in front of the furnace fill lines.

This tire manufacturer wanted to improve productivity. We created an automatic monorail system that increased productivity and reduced costly mixing errors. The system was originally handled by individual monorail systems with an operator required for each system. By automating the system they required only one operator to run the main switch center safely and comfortably.

A 16-page booklet developed by members of Automated Electrified Monorail Product Section of Material Handling Industry (MHI), known as members of Monorail Manufacturers Association, an independent association of MHI. This booklet was designed in
Toronto Electric conducted a thorough assessment of their material handling requirements and deducted that several Workstation Bridge Cranes from Spanco would best serve the printing company’s needs.
The company used multiple 40-ton capacity overhead bridge cranes to assist in the assembly process, which normally took eight weeks. As the process progressed, so did safety risks. The nature of the work being done on these mining machines did not allow for traditional passive restraints like handrails. After researching alternative solutions, the company realized that permanent systems would impede the movement of cranes responsible for delivering parts to workers. They knew they needed a novel solution.
During annual process improvement initiatives, Tiffin decided to overhaul their material handling strategy so that workers no longer had to manually place components. Often, workers would also have to wait upwards of 45 minutes on components to be placed by forklift operators. Tiffin knew Gorbel® offered a wide variety of systems and chose to invest in our overhead solutions.
RTI’s VanishPoint products have a unique retractable syringe and are used to administer the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. RTI was previously using monorails over their injection molding machines and forklifts on the ground for transportation, but they found this to be inefficient because the fixed monorail beams did not offer any side-to-side movement capability of the trolley. OMi Crane Systems, Inc. recommended the installation of three cranes from R&M Materials Handling, Inc. OMi supplied RTI with 3-ton capacity, top-running single girder bridge cranes that feature an electric chain hoist and motorized trolley.
