Angelini Technologies - Fameccanica Solutions Featured at ProMat 2025 in ChicagoChicago, March the 17th 2025 - Papick, ItPick and Depax are the robotics solutions dedicated to the logistics and forwarding sector that Angelini Technologies – Fameccanica - a company of Angelini Industries, an Italian industrial group active in the health, industrial technology and FMCG sectors - is presenting during these days at ProMat 2025, the global leading event for industrial technologies for manufacturing, distribution and supply chain, which is being held until March the 20th in Chicago.Angelini Technologies- Fameccanica, as a leading industrial technology company and end-to-end system integrator, presents three applications that embody the path the company is pursuing to design technologically advanced, scalable, modular, and integrated Warehouse&Logistics systems that can respond to different needs while achieving high levels of performance and efficiency.Modular and customized solutions are developed to adapt to specific layouts and to meet different technological needs (from the simplest to the most sophisticated tasks) thanks to the use of 3D vision systems based on artificial intelligence and installed at the end of the robotic arm. They are conceived from the design stage for large-scale productions for global installations and rollout.Specifically, Papick is an automated sorting system for the collection of parcels weighing up to 5 kg, primarily designed for the e-commerce and postal sorting sectors. Thanks to AI integrated vision systems, advanced workflow management and efficient barcode reading systems, Papick can pick and sort, with a single robotic arm, up to 1800 packages per hour with an efficiency of over 98%.Depax, indeed, is a depalletizer, a platform capable of transferring objects or packages of different sizes from a pallet. Depax combines robotics and advanced machine vision to manage the randomness of incoming pallets and perform depalletizing with maximum precision. Depax processes up to 600 cycles per hour with dimensions of up to 60x60 cm and up to 30 kg in weight. The system is intended for all operators in the shipping industry who handle arrivals of mixed pallets with highly variable and unknown contents.A particularly versatile solution is ItPick, an automated system capable of picking individual products and therefore adaptable to different configurations. It has a high-speed performance of up to 1600 cycles per hour and an accuracy of over 95%. It can effortlessly handle different product variants in terms of color, shape, material, weight, opacity or surface flatness. At the fair will also be present an integrated and modular solution, End of Line, that is placed downstream of the manufacturing plants and carries secondary packaging: it wraps products inside the boxes and palletizes them. The system consists of different modules such as box forming, box filling, box closing, palletizing island with automatic pallet management. Each module has its own intelligence and a central system that manages all modules and the movement of packages between them, including the various quality controls necessary to ensure the highest quality standards and tracking. The modularity of the system allows it to adapt to any plant layout requirement. In addition, the individual modules are enhanced by robotics and digital control that provides flexibility to change boxing patterns and palletizing matrices. The system is capable of processing up to 90 incoming products and filling up to 30 boxes per minute.“Participating in one of the main events for the automation and robotics industry including Warehouse Logistics on a global level – explains Luigi De Vito, CEO of Angelini Technologies – Fameccanica - allows us to seize an important opportunity to share our innovative and large-scale solutions and further to strengthen our presence in the United States, where we already have facilities in Cincinnati, Ohio. It also helps us listening to the needs of a constantly evolving global market increasingly focused on issues of efficiency and sustainability”.Sustainability is another of the main drivers of the design activities of Angelini Technologies - Fameccanica, which has also recently developed and patented Greenpackt®, the first machine for the automated production of eco-sustainable packaging, which allows a reduction of about 50% in CO2 emissions compared to the production of similar plastic packs. The robotic system developed by the company for single-dose detergent capsules also goes in the same direction: thanks to an accurate detergent dosing system, which also involves the use of artificial intelligence, it is possible to minimize production waste while maintaining a high production speed. The numbers of Angelini Technologies - FameccanicaWith more than 700 employees in Italy, the USA and China, more than 200 million in turnover, 80% of which comes from exports, and more than 1,200 patent rights, Angelini Technologies - Fameccanica operates not only in “converting”, the production of industrial machines in the 'hygiene' sector (production of items such as nappies, sanitary napkins and single-dose detergent capsules), but also in robotics and industrial automation, mainly applied to the logistics of organised distribution and e-commerce. The third area of activity is sustainable packaging, which led to the development of Greenpackt®. From the year of its foundation in 1975 to date, Angelini Technologies - Fameccanica has built 1,300 production plants, sold in 58 countries. The company operates from three production sites in Italy (San Giovanni Teatino, in the province of Chieti), China (Shanghai) and the United States (West Chester, OH) of the 700 employees, more than 600 work at the Italian headquarters in San Giovanni Teatino, of which more than 200 are engineers involved in research and development, hardware and software design and production. The company was founded in 1975 by Angelini and was an equal joint venture between the Angelini Group and P&G from 1992 to 2022. In 2022 Angelini Industries regained 100% control by acquiring 50% from P&G.ContactAngelini Technologies Anna Pia ChiarandiniHead of Global Communications Angelini Technologiesannapia.chiarandini@angelinitechnologies.comSEC Newgate ItalyDaniele Murgia - daniele.murgia@secnewgate.it - tel. +39 3384330031Fausta Tagliarini - fausta.tagliarini@secnewgate.it - tel. +39 3476474513Daniele Pinosa - daniele.pinosa@secnewgate.it - tel. +39 3357233872Giulia Cominotti - giulia.cominotti@secnewgate.it - tel. +39 3391499949
Hinwil (Switzerland), February 11, 2025 – Fnac, a European leader in entertainment product distribution, collaborated with intralogistics expert Ferag to establish an Omnichannel Distribution Center in Lisbon, Portugal. This venture marked the second successful partnership between the two companies, following a first project in Madrid, Spain. Ferag was entrusted as the general contractor for this transformative project, which started in April 2023 and achieved operational status end of 2023.Technology Integration for Efficiency BoostFnac's new distribution center faced several challenges, including the need to streamline operations for both B2B and B2C orders within its Omnichannel framework while optimizing space utilization. Previously, the manual and semi-automated zones operated disjointedly, leading to inefficiencies and space constraints. Furthermore, the process of preparing goods for shipment to shops required significant manual labor, hindering productivity and order fulfillment.Ferag engineered a comprehensive solution designed to Fnac's specific requirements, integrating modern technologies including TGW's Stingray Shuttle System, Interroll's conveyor systems, and Sealed Air's I-Pack® packaging system to enhance efficiency and operational performance across the Omnichannel distribution process. The software integration for this system at MFC and WCS level was carried out by Ferag.Optimizing B2B and B2C ProcessesThe B2B material flow in Lisbon includes fulfillment and dispatch of the orders, originated from the 46 Fnac shops across the country. The categorized and labeled SKUs (including technology, books, music, and more) are placed into containers and transported via roller conveyor to 4 of the 6 inductions of the ferag.denisort allocated in a mezzanine-level , where the orders are fulfilled in 302 destinations. At these destinations, serving as pivotal hubs, the items undergo initial sorting in preparation for subsequent processing.Once the items are sorted, they move along the conveyor belt, transitioning to the roller conveyor system and transported to the Shuttle system, able to handle containers and cartons as well as trays weighing up to 50 kilograms. Fnac’s Shuttle System serves as a shipping buffer and sequencer until the containers are ready to be dispatched. When a truck is ready for loading, the operators release the shipments in the Warehouse Management System. The system organizes the bins from the Shuttle system in the strict sequence demanded by the receiving shops. The fully automated tote stackers label the containers and stack them onto roller cases, additionally maximizing throughput performance in the distribution center. With this process complete, the roller cases are loaded onto the trucks for immediate dispatch. On average, the distribution center loads 6 or 7 trucks per day, supported by a system capable of handling up to 700 containers per hour.Space and Cost Savings Through AutomationThe B2C material flow process begins with orders placed through the web platform, accommodating both single and multiple items per order. A standardized carton box, of a single size, is utilized for packaging, replacing the former array of sizes for simplicity and cost-effectiveness. Once items are placed in the carton, they proceed along a conveyor line to reach the I-Pack packing machine, streamlining the packaging process, making it faster, more reliable, and cost-effective. The system calculates the product dimensions in real-time, optimizing package dimensions, reducing order volume and shipping costs. Cartons are then labeled automatically with shipping information, forwarded to the buffer zone before being conveyed to the shipping area for dispatch. But this is not all. In parallel, same buffer system manages return orders efficiently, ensuring seamless handling of returned items back to the provider. This streamlined process enhances efficiency and reduces complexities associated with varying carton sizes and by using one zone for different functions, ultimately improving overall logistics operations.Future-proof Logistics Solution for FnacThe successful implementation of Ferag's intralogistics solution at Fnac's Omnichannel distribution center in Portugal yielded remarkable results. “With a focus on integrating manual and semi-automated zones intelligently, Ferag overcame operational challenges while delivering tangible benefits in terms of efficiency, space utilization, and scalability” says Tiago Figueirôa, e-Commerce, Supply Chain & Logistic Director at FNAC Portugal.Ferag's solution provided numerous benefits. Productivity increased exponentially, with the labeling process achieving a five-fold improvement compared to previous methods. By employing the Shuttle Buffer, space utilization was optimized, resulting in space savings within the distribution center. The modular design of the solution ensures scalability, allowing for seamless future expansion to accommodate Fnac's evolving needs.Ferag's collaboration with Fnac exemplifies its expertise as a system integrator and reinforces its position as a key player in the intralogistics industry. “By leveraging innovative solution design and fostering a collaborative partnership with other intralogistics providers and the Fnac’s Supply Chain specialists, we have demonstrated our commitment to delivering tailored solutions that drive operational excellence and business growth to our customers” says Alberto Mateos Sánchez, Sales & Customer Service Manager at Ferag. “We have empowered Fnac to achieve new efficiency and performance in its Omnichannel distribution operations, setting a new standard for retail logistics”.About FeragHeadquartered in Hinwil/Zurich, Ferag AG is a renowned Swiss family-owned company that has been a global leader in the development of conveying and processing systems for the printing industry for over 65 years. Winona, Minnesota-based OZ Lifting Products LLC is celebrating 20 years in business. The manufacturer of davit cranes and industrial lifting equipment was inaugurated on December 4, 2004 with two staff; today, it has 25 full-time employees, a distributor network across North America, and is preparing to relocate for a fourth time.Even as the company celebrates the milestone, expansion into a state-of-the-art 40,000 square-foot facility is on the horizon. The new five-acre property, on Innovation Drive in its home town, is four times larger than the current building.Steve Napieralski, president at OZ Lifting, said: “The new space will provide us with ample room for growth, including increased storage, more advanced testing capabilities, and the potential to expand our manufacturing operations. Most importantly, it will allow us to continue offering the exceptional service and high-quality products customers have come to rely on; while ensuring we maintain the safety standards that are at the core of our mission.”The company is perhaps best known for its range of davit cranes, including the 1,200-lbs. capacity U.S. Patented CompOZite model that is made from advanced composite material and weighs only 83 lbs. The CompOZite Elite, meanwhile, is the world’s most innovative davit crane, offering the same capacity with a total crane weight of only 37 lbs.The recently relaunched Tele-Pro davit crane, also U.S. Patented, and available in 500 lbs., 1,200 lbs. and 2,500 lbs. capacities, allows users to leverage the benefits of the manufacturer’s other cranes, while telescoping the boom in and out under load. Among other davits and accessories are manual and electric hoists and winches, in addition to a range of beam trolleys, clamps, and wire rope products.Napieralski said: “We’ve come a long way. I started in the lifting industry in 1988, working for a manufacturer of equipment, before I opened my first business in 1995, which was a manufacturer representative company, specializing in the lifting and rigging business.“Prior to launching [OZ], I was nine years into my rep business, uneasy about the 30-day contracts. I knew I had strong relationships with all the distributors that I called on, so I thought, why not leverage them? I was fortunate to meet two Australians that were looking for a U.S. exclusive distributor of their hoist equipment.”The backbone of the company’s initial offering was a manual lever and chain hoist, equipped with overload protection; this has now grown into the Premium series. U.S.-made products were soon added to the catalog, but today’s 540 stock-keeping units (SKUs) represent a combination of both domestically manufactured and imported products.Napieralski added: “The two-decade milestone and expansion are testaments to the strength of our business, and we’re incredibly proud to be able to continue growing and innovating in ways that will directly benefit our valued customers. If we keep doing what we do, treat coworkers and customers right, continue to bring innovation to market, carry inventory, etc., we will be in very good shape for the future.”OZ Lifting is continuing a recruitment effort to hire for several key roles.ContactAshley BlumMarketing Manager, OZ Lifting Products LLCashley@ozliftingproducts.com+1 507-474-6250 Ext. 110www.ozliftingproducts.com

BackgroundA seed company in Iowa had workers spending all day unloading palletized boxes onto a gravity conveyor. The conveyor moved each box to a staging area where workers would lift them individually onto a workbench for testing and repackaging if needed. The ProblemWith workers manually moving boxes onto and off the conveyor, the ergonomic drain on the company was significant. Each box weighed about 70 lbs, so workers were experiencing frequent back problems and fatigue throughout the day. Production was also slowed because manual lifting was time-consuming and unpredictable. The SolutionA Gorbel® Work Station Crane outfitted with a G-Force® Intelligent Lifting Device was installed. The Work Station Crane helped move the boxes ergonomically through all stages of processing, while the G-Force® provided workers with precise handling abilities. What previously took substantial physical strength could now be achieved with a slight touch of the hand. Workers were particularly grateful that this system was easy to use, with no complicated controls or unnecessary buttons – load sensors on the G-Force® took care of that.
Transbotics engineers designed a Laser-Guided Tugger vehicle to move cart-trains weighing up to 65,000 pounds of palletized glass for a major client in the North American food and beverage industry. These automated guided vehicles (AGVs) carefully move and stop while fully loaded with palletized glass, preventing tower pallets from toppling over. They are programmed to work side by side with automatic train loading machinery and conveyor systems. Transbotics technicians integrated the AGV system seamlessly into the existing automated process.
Stemilt Growers is a family-owned and operated business that grows and distributes a variety of fresh fruits. Stemilt had rigorous requirements for an automation system. Pallets of fresh fruits can weigh up to 2,000 pounds, and not every automation system can handle that weight. In addition, different varieties of fruit needed to be stored at different temperatures to maintain freshness. The modular PowerStore system for Stemilt is sized to hold more than 13,000 pallets across five levels with 25 row carriers and 25 aisle carriers. The PowerStore Supply Carrier ensures efficient and reliable inbound and outbound pallet delivery at high speeds.
